ABOUT THE ROLE

An opportunity has arisen for 2 Food Production operatives to join our team at Green Grow Club, mushroom and food production company.

  • Imperative to this role is a strong interest and commitment to environmental issues including circular economy solutions, sustainable rural development and climate change, as well as a desire to grow within the role and the company. Experience in a rural and food production environment will be seen as favourable.

  • A good cultural fit with the company ethos and connection to the social values of Aurora Sustainability Group is essential, as the right candidate would essentially be creating their senior own role within the company, and an extension of the contract after the initial 6-month period is expected upon review.

  • We are seeking candidates with the ability, skills and desire to develop a career in a food and supply chain production role. A background in food sector is not essential, but we are looking for people with a strong interest in rural food production, coupled with experience in logistics, forwarding or another similar support function. Applicants will ideally have first-hand experience of the above in a busy environment, will enjoy engaging enthusiastically with customers, suppliers, visitors and guests, and will be happy to lead tours, workshops, talks and events.

ABOUT YOU

Ideally you will be located close to Forres, preferably in the Moray area, hold a driving licence and own a vehicle. Imperative to this role is a strong interest and commitment to environmental issues including circular economy solutions, sustainable rural development and climate change, as well as a desire to grow within the role and the company.


RESPONSIBILITIES and REQUIREMENTS

  • Preparing, Mixing, Packing on fast production lines. Lifting up to 25KG.Taking written and verbal instruction.

  • Adhering to Health and Safety at all times.

  • Preparing and Cleaning down work areas. Working different shift patterns.

  • First-hand experience of managing a successful productive environment at a high level.

  • The ambition and resilience to develop new business.

  • Experience and proven ability in team working.

  • Thorough, precise and well organised.

  • To be considered for the role, you must have excellent punctuality

  • Broad-ranging science and food expertise with evidence of appropriate academic qualifications. Eagerness to provide the highest level of work standards.

  • The candidate will be a hands-on, hard-working, energetic person with excellent team working skills and the ability to communicate across all levels and to adapt their style to meet individual needs.

  • Act as an ambassador and expert to external audiences, i.e. the media and visitors.

  • Adequate IT skills for implementing efficient management systems and records are an essential requisite.

  • Full and clean UK driving license.

  • Being able to collect feedstock from our supply chain.

  • Supply and negotiate best prices on the supply chain. Buy Grain, Spices and Pulses from farmers and food suppliers both established and new.

  • Use business information and technical knowledge to maximise the potential of each of the food supply acquisitions.

  • Sell food outputs and services to customers and develop new opportunities.

  • Be able to work overtime at short notice

  • Prepared to learn new job roles. Prepared to work various shifts. Physically fit

  • Agree terms for grain storage and handling services within guidelines agreed by the Managers.

  • Coordinate the sampling and testing of commodities for purchase.

  • Gather and feedback any market or competitor information to Managers, Commodity Traders and Product Managers.

  • Keep up to date with competitor activity and information and report on as appropriate.

  • Document and manage product and service problems raised by customers.

  • Liaise with Traders/Product Managers on product availability and pricing policy.

  • Establish a network of colleagues from within own and across relevant departments to support your work and the needs of our customers.

  • Develop close working relationships with the Marketing and Sales Manager to support the needs of the customers.

  • Strong productivity skills and commercial awareness with previous success in dealing with farmers

  • Ability to build outstanding professional relationships with customers and colleagues

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

  • A high level of initiative with strong planning and organisational skills

  • High standard of numeracy and literacy and good attention to detail

  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel

  • HACCP qualification (while not essential) would be a great advantage.

  • The ability to become HACCP qualified, and meet all of the food training and standards needs required
